What Makes These Antique Safes so Special?

When you think about an antique safe you may not think that it’s anything special at all. However, the truth is that not all safes are exactly the same, and Diebold safes in particular are valuable as well as looking extremely beautiful. They are all hand crafted and many will argue that they are works of art.

If you have a proper look at one of these safes, you’ll see that each lock and bolt is sighed and handmade, as well as being engraved with many different designs, such as flowers, leaves and vines. They may even be painted onto the outside, making them look even more special. In fact, if you take a good look at one of these safes, you’ll see that it’s also one of the safest places to store items.

Some models of these safes are not made to be as attractive as others, but they are still extremely valuable. Cannonball safes, for example, are so-called because of their round shape on a square base. And many other Diebold safes from the 1850s to the 1870s are still available to buy, known as ‘3rd model safes’ – just check out a few different antique listings.
